About

A daily Roman Missal, kept quietly in your pocket

The readings the Church has appointed for today, the prayers proper to the day, and the whole Order of Mass, set in one place you can open in a moment.

Missal Daily is a digital Roman Missal. For any day you choose it sets before you the readings the Church has appointed, the collect, the prayer over the offerings and the prayer after Communion, and the whole Order of Mass with its dialogue printed in red. Nothing is reordered or abridged: the day's liturgy is given as the Lectionary and the Missal give it, in the Douay-Rheims translation of the Scriptures.

Around the readings sit the things a printed missal cannot do. There is a calendar of the whole year, so a reader can see what is coming and what a feast is; the seasons in their own colours; the Common Prayers, the Holy Rosary, the Stations of the Cross, the Angelus and the Regina Caeli; a page on what the Church believes, with her councils and catechism quoted plainly; the Latin beside the English wherever it is wanted; and a voice to read the day aloud. The days you keep and the verses you mark are still there when you come back, and the week ahead is kept on your own device for the mornings you have no connection.

It is made for anyone who prays the Mass and would know it better: a commuter reading the Gospel on a train, a catechist preparing a class, someone learning what the parts of the Mass are called, a parent reading the Sunday readings aloud on a Saturday night, a homebound reader who cannot be at the church for the Liturgy of the Word. It assumes no training beyond a willingness to read.

Missal Daily is built and maintained independently, by a small team of Catholics who pray with these texts themselves and answer to the Church's own books rather than to a content calendar. Where the missal falls short of the mind of the Church, we want to be told.

A correction to a reading, a feast we have missed, a word about how the missal is serving your prayer: write to us.
